Classic Italian Holidays

Classic Italian Holidays-by Keith Barrett

Many people like to flock from the UK to Italy. It's a country that's been popular with visitors for centuries and remains so to this day. Where are the best places to visit? The holiday that you plan will obviously be dictated by what you enjoy doing. If you're a fan of walking, sports and enjoy activity based holidays then the area surrounding Lake Garda might be a good place to choose.

If, on the other hand, you're looking for a location that offers something really unique, with a lot of romance thrown in, then you could do a lot worse than to plan a visit to Venice, a city which has been drawing Visitors from afar for so many years.

Where else stands out? I like the area known as Tuscany. Popular with British visitors and those looking to buy second homes abroad, this is a region that some people tend to dismiss to easily.

Any part of Italy that can boast the architectural splendour of Florence, Pisa and Siena clearly has an enormous amount to offer.

It may be that you prefer to escape the larger cities and enjoy the countryside that surrounds them. The rural scenery here is stunning, with beautiful farmhouses dotted around the Tuscan hills.

The olive groves and vineyards tell their own tale. The region produces some of Italy's finest wines, including the famous Chianti Classico, indicated by the symbol of a black cockerel.

The natural ingredients help to ensure that Tuscan food is wonderful, fresh and full of taste. What more could you want from a holiday.

The Italian lakes, Venice and Tuscany are just three parts of this beautiful country. Without even beginning to mention the delights of Rome, Milan, the Amalfi Coast, or Sicily, you'll undoubtedly already be gathering that there is plenty to see and do here.

Part of the beauty of Italy is that it offers something for everyone. From historic cities with endless culture, to relaxing country retreats, you'll find something to suit.

Once you've visited Italy, you'll undoubtedly find it difficult to resist returning.
